The practical round has ended
Today the Olympiad participants solved the practical round tasks. The score received by the participants at this stage will amount to 30% of the final rating. The round included implementing 3 short research projects. The pupils had to demonstrate their skills in data processing, working with images, graphs and tables.
The basic tool was Excel. The participants willing to write the code themselves could use Python or other programming languages and systems.
The tour is of a high practical value: the participants find out how to work with big data solving real research problems.
To get the maximum score, the participants need not only to be able to process data, but also to analyze them drawing conclusions and making predictions.
As in the theoretical round, all the tasks were given to the participants in English.
After lunch, a masterclass on skating was organized for everyone. It took place at the "Snezhinka" arena in the Olympic Park. It is the rink that hockey teams trained on during the 2014 Olympic Games. The coaches taught the schoolchildren how to stand confidently on skates and helped them improve their skating technique.
